Canford Crematorium was opened in 1956 and has an avenue of Silver Birch trees leading from the entrance to the Chapel. It is situated in Canford Lane next to Canford Park, a Victorian Park with Tennis Courts, Bowls Pavillion and Coffee shop. Presumably this was named as a general area in which the river Trym could be easily crossed or forded. Canford Crematorium is just over half a mile away and is about a 12 minute walk.
